Ankylosaurus is a large, armored dinosaur that appears in Carnivores 2, Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter, Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter HD, Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter Reborn, and Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunt.

Biology[]

Ankylosaurus is a tank-like dinosaur: its entire top side is heavily protected from carnivores with thick, bony, oval plates embedded in its leathery skin that form an armor coating. It even has bony plates shielding its eyes. Ankylosaurus is well protected from predators, and defends itself with its club-like tail, which it could swing around and smash into an attacking dinosaur. However, this animal is still very skittish, running away from the hunter on sight. This animal is weak in mostly on its head, due to its armor-plated back offering some protection. This animal also possesses the ability to chew plant matter, a trait unique among ankylosaurs.

Carnivores 2[]

Ankylosaurus is featured in Carnivores 2 as a pointable animal. However, it is very inaccurate. The Ankylosaurus in the game is smaller than its real-life counterpart and is harmless. It will flee if players approach it. It was probably meant as a replacement for the Pachycephalosaurus from Carnivores.

Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter HD[]

The Ankylosaurus returns in Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter HD as a trophy animal. This Ankylosaurus (like the other dinosaurs in the game) is much more anatomically correct than its PC counterpart. An Ankyosaurus license costs only 10 gems, and is also automatically unlocked after the hunter's first kill. Unlike in previous games, the Ankylosaurus' armor actually shields it from bullets, which makes the X-Ray visor extremely useful in determining the dinosaurs most vulnerable areas. When threatened or backed into a corner, the Ankylosaurus will turn to face its attacker and repeatedly smash the ground with its tail in an effort to intimidate the threat. The Ankylosaurus call is a very generic monster roar, which may confuse people into thinking a carnivore is in the area. This dinosaur has a low sense of sight, an excellent sense of smell, and an average sense of hearing. This Ankylosaurus is much more anatomically correct, making it slightly larger and much slower than in Carnivores 2 and Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter.

Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter Reborn[]

The Ankylosaurus returns in Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter Reborn. The Ankylosaurus is once again dangerous, and kills the hunter by clubbing him with the dinosaur's clubbed tail. The Ankylosaurus, yet again, sounds like a generic monster. However, the in-game version is slightly inaccurate, because Ankylosaurus can be killed through its armor, while its real-life variant has been shown to be bullet-proof. Mutated Ankylosaurus can be found roaming the islands.

Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunt[]

Ankylosaurus also returns in Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunt with the same traits from the previous games. It's mutated variant was removed.
